Letters and Addresses of Thomas Jefferson

LETTERS AND ADDRESSES of THOMAS JEFFERSON Edited by William B. Parker and Jonas Viles. The Book is as the Title says, Letters and Addresses of Thomas Jefferson, being an interesting collection of these chosen by the Editors. There are a few other interesting tidbits, there is included the inscription that is on the Jefferson tomb stone that was ordered by Jefferson and only the date and year of his death needed to be added. The Inscription is as follows: HERE WAS BURIED THOMAS JEFFERSON, AUTHOR OF THE DECLARATION OF AMERICAN INDEPENDENCE, OF THE STATUTE OF VIRGINIA FOR RELIGIOUS FREEDOM, AND FATHER OF THE UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA. BORN APRIL 2d, 1743
O.S. DIED [JULY 4] [1826] We see from this Inscription what this busy man, who did so much for the United States and for mankind, thought was most important - American Independence, Religious Liberty, and Higher Education.
